  • A 25 year old man from the Isle of Mull was severely injured when he crashed the quad bike he was driving in the course of his employment. He suffered a fractured spine and internal injuries. A court action was raised. It settled a few days before the hearing and he received £265,000.
     
  • A 74 year old woman from Alloa was a passenger in car which was involved in a road traffic accident. Liability was admitted by the insurers for the other driver. She suffered a whiplash injury and accepted £4000 in damages.
      
  • A 46 year old man from Inverness fractured his ankle after stepping in an uncovered manhole. A claim was made against the Council and he received £5000.
     
  • A 37 year old HGV driver from Arbroath was working on a construction site in Dundee. His leg was trapped between an excavator and a skip. He suffered a fractured hip. He claimed against his employers. An action was raised in the Court of Session in Edinburgh. The insurers settled the case out of court for £47,500.
      
  • A 23 year old man was severely injured when his car was struck by a vehicle being driven by a foreign national driving on the wrong side of the road, near Fort William. He had multiple injuries including facial injuries, fractures and a mild brain injury with psychological effects. Court proceedings were raised and the other diver's insurers settled the case shortly before the court hearing. He received £300,000.
      
  • A 54 year old man from Stirling suffered back injuries whilst working on an oil rig in Nigeria. Actions were raised against his employers in Scotland and in the United States. Settlement was achieved through negotiations in the United States. He received £147,000.
      
  • A 68 year old man was working as a pick-up driver on a construction site in Inverness. He fell off the pick-up and suffered a fractured skull and collarbone. A claim was made against his employers. The case settled for £100,000 without a court action being raised.
      
  • A 25 year old man from Glasgow was injured while adjusting equipment at work. He suffered a cut tendon in his index finger. An action was raised against his employers in Glasgow Sheriff Court. It settled for £3500 before the court hearing.
